It's a shame that Phil Hartman passed away, which basically was the beginning of the end. I can understand why they tried a fifth season, but it wasn't the same. Newsradio was smart, funny and had an amazing cast from top to bottom.NewsRadio was an excellent and clever show, yet it was cancelled while shows like Suddenly Susan (which when you really think about it rips off NewsRadio) got to continue. What's with that? Granted, the series never recovered from the loss of Phil Hartman, but NewsRadio was still good and way better than other shows on NBC or any other networks.Newsradio was a fish out of water. In a time of oversexed young white sitcoms, Newsradio relied on brilliant writing, expert character development, and excellent plots to drive it along. No gimmicks needed. Each character had a role to fill, and they filled it well.

Remembering the joy of old time radio - Villages-News.com

Barry Evans and his wife recently had a chance to relive the joy of old time radio. There were all sorts of radio programs back then. Another of my favorites was Mr. Keen, Tracer of Lost Persons”. They could definitely use Mr. Keen today. We also can’t forget the “FBI in Peace and War”. They caught bad guys by the bunches. They all deserved to be caught too!The funny thing is they made a movie out of that one. There was also “Just Plain Bill”, “Pepper Young’s Family”, “Ma Perkins”. And others like “Young Widow Brown”. The last one must have had an impression on me. The reason being I wrote a soap opera for the Old Time Radio Club once. The other day at the good old Freedom Pointe independent living facility where The Blond in the House and I now reside; we had a special treat. That is, we had a visit from The Old Time Radio club. They presented actors who read the scripts with some good oomph from radio programs that were done back in the day when radio was king.

Florida radio station borrows Trump to be its face and name - CBS News

Florida country radio station WHEL rebranded itself "Trump Country" 93.7 FM on the day President Trump was inaugurated for his second term. The font in the radio station's logo appears to use the typeface as the Trump-Vance campaign used for its signage. The largest image in the logo is an animated image of the president himself, with his trademark red tie and flag lapel pin, and an uncharacteristic cowboy hat.Trump announced the radio station's "Deportation a day" campaign, which offered cruises to Mexico for listeners. The on-air promotions used the Trump voice actor and a voice actor with a young Hispanic male voice to pitch the trips and compare them mockingly to deportations.Schwartzel told CBS News, "We don't talk about the politics of deportations, but we twisted it to be entertaining." He said he decided to name his radio station after Mr. Trump months before launching a campaign for Congress.Trump Country 93.7 radio station website, Fort Myers, Florida.

WNYC | New York Public Radio, Podcasts, Live Streaming Radio, News

WNYC is America's most listened-to public radio station and the producer of award-winning programs and podcasts like Radiolab, On the Media, and The Brian Lehrer Show. Micah goes behind the scenes with Katie — to hear about her reporting process, how she found these stories and audio recordings (some of which had never been digitized), and the talk radio and shortwave gems that were left on the cutting room floor. As threats to funding for public media have been in the news, many of you- our audiences, supporters, and community partners—have been asking how to stay informed and support public mediaWhen most women in Radio were doing home-ec shows, she was WNYC's News and Special Events Director.Join us on June 11th at 7 PM for a conversation between OTM host Micah Loewinger and journalist Katie Thornton as they discuss their Peabody-winning series, new season of “The Divided Dial.” The first season, released in late 2022, examined how the right came to dominate talk radio in the US — and how one company was launching an ultra-conservative media empire from the airwaves. This once-ubiquitous medium went from a utopian experiment in global communication to a propaganda tool for governments at war — and then became a vehicle for American right-wing extremists and cults. Katie visits a very strange station in Northern Maine. And explains what a little-known battle playing out on the shortwaves right now — between radio fanatics and Wall Street — can tell us about how we value our public airwaves.
